Success yet again as Matthijs Büchli wins gold in the ‘Keirin’

Saturday the 16th of January, saw Matthijs Büchli triumphant yet again, winning the battle for the third World Cup ‘Keirin’ track cycling championships in Hong Kong.

Matthijs proved to be too strong for his rivals Hugo Barrette (Canada) and Im Chaebin (South Korea) and took home the gold medal to add to his impressive list of titles.

Video Rolex Middle Sea race

Recently, Lowland Marine & Offshore participated in this 36th Edition of the Rolex Middle Sea race with her own sailing yacht. The race started at the old port of Valetta, Malta.

Lowland achieved 8th place in category 4 and 28th place in ORC in the race overal.

In June the Lowland International Group of companies has been granted renewal of the ISO-9001 certificate again by Lloyds Register.

ISO 9000 deals with the fundamentals of quality management systems. ISO 9001 deals with the requirements that organizations -wishing to meet the standard- must fulfill.

Lloyds Register provides an independent confirmation that Lowland International Group meet the requirements of ISO 9001.
We believe that we can serve our client better with a certified quality management system and we are proud that we always offers our services based on ISO-9001 certificate.

MLC-2006 registration prolonged

Next to the ISO-9001 certificate renewal, Lowland International Group also prolonged their MLC-2006 registration. Lowland International Group is certified again by Lloyds Register.

MLC-2006 is a system of international labour standards for work at sea, developed by the International Labour Organization. It is aimed at promoting opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work, in conditions of freedom, equity, security and dignity.

We are proud that we always offers our services based on MLC-2006 standards and that again Lloyds Register has prolonged this registration.

One of the activities of the Lowland International Group is outsourcing of work and (sub) contracting of work. For many years now Lowland is registered with the Stichting Normening Arbeid and therefore registered in the Dutch Labour Standards Register which means being certified NEN-4400.

Companies certified according to standard NEN 4400-1 or NEN 4400-2 offer their clients better protection against fraud and illegality.

End of June Lowland has been audited again and has been NEN-4400 certified again. We are proud having this certification and we believe we can serve our clients better this way.

Matthijs Büchli qualifies for Olympic Games

Track cyclist Matthijs Büchli has qualified for the Olympics in Rio. At the track cycling world cup in London, Büchli came in second on the team sprint.

He qualified for Rio by winning a bike-off in Roubaix. In competition with Theo Bos and Hugo Haak, the latter was beaten for a ticket to Rio. At the Olympics Büchli will compete for medals on the teamsprint and Keirin.

Just a few weeks ago Dutch track cyclist Matthijs Büchli won his silver medal at the Keirin at the 2016 Olympic games.

On Wednesday 7th september Matthijs visited our company in Nieuw-Vennep for a nice chat with our colleagues. And of course he brought his medal as you can see! We were very pleased with his visit!

Following a presentation introducing Lowland by The Lord David Evans and the Lowland team, special guest, Jorge Castro, the sensational international opera singer will entertain the guests. Jorge used to sing with Pavarotti and Julio Iglesias. We are hoping to be joined by the Dutch Ambassador and Her Excellency the Rt Hon Baroness Patricia Scotland QC.

The event will be taking place on the 7th October at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in central London and will launch Lowland’s new operation in the UK.

Lowland International, founded in 1993 in the Netherlands, is a private operation working with the international shipping and offshore industries – they have offices and operations in over 20 countries. Lowland operates vessels and offshore installations, with key areas in maritime, offshore oil and gas, medical, recruitment & selection and training & education. Each year, Lowland donates 10% of profit to charity (last year to Cancer Research and War Child), and a further 20% of profit is used for the education of young cadets and seafarers.

Students will have short interviews with various recruiters from the shipping industry and will be evaluated on their approach and presentation. The main objective of this afternoon, is to help students prepare for their future job interviews, whether it will be for internships or at their first future employers.

Lowland International is pleased to announce the great expansion of its team and the opening of a new office in London.

A spectacular evening was held on the 7th of October at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel where we introduced our company to the UK shipping market. The main purpose of the event was to develop already existing regional operations meanwhile to become connected to key influencers in the maritime industry and to start relationship that will lead to strategic alliances, joint ventures and referrals. Lowland was introduced by Anzhelika Grechnaya – our business development manager in the UK.

Overall, it was a night of the highest caliber entertainment – a presentation about the company, and the most importantly warm and friendly atmosphere. Our guests – shipping & offshore businesses’ representatives were treated to a fabulous dinner, champagne and live music performance. The charismatic music band Riviera and our special guest – world famous opera singing sensation Jorge Castro were amusing our guests in the most beautiful ambience.

The event was attended by more than 70 people including our special guests – HE the Dutch Ambassador to the United Kingdom, The Lord David Evans, the advisory board and the CEO’s of the Lowland Group and others. It was wonderful to see all those people in one place and to have the opportunity to network, to socialize and to learn more about the shipping industry. Judging by the feedback we have received, everyone had a great time.

It’s important to note, it was also conceived as a fundraising event for the charity ‘Prostate Cancer’ and Lowland International made a donation towards the research and support of the ones in need.

We’re very excited about the future and the opportunities UK shipping market holds. Our new UK office marks the next stage in our development and we look forward to continuing our growth!
